GeneSight® Testing

A More Personalized Approach to Medication

Finding the right medication shouldn’t feel like guesswork.

GeneSight® testing is a simple genetic test that helps take the trial-and-error out of mental health treatment. By looking at how your body processes and responds to certain medications, GeneSight provides valuable insights that help your provider make more informed, personalized prescribing decisions.

At our clinic, our providers offer GeneSight testing as part of a thoughtful, whole-person approach to psychiatric care.

How GeneSight® Works

GeneSight is a non-invasive cheek swab that analyzes specific genes known to affect how your body metabolizes psychiatric medications, including those used to treat:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • ADHD

  • Mood disorders

The results organize medications into categories based on how your genetics might influence effectiveness and side effects—helping to guide conversations and treatment decisions with greater clarity.

Why Our Patients Find GeneSight® Helpful

Many people seeking psychiatric care have experienced:

  • Medications that didn’t work well enough or

  • Uncomfortable or intolerable side effects

  • Feeling discouraged after multiple medication changes

GeneSight testing can help by:

  • Reducing the guesswork in medication selection

  • Supporting more confident prescribing decisions

  • Helping patients feel informed and empowered in their care

  • Saving time, emotional energy, and unnecessary medication trials

While GeneSight does not guarantee a specific outcome, it provides helpful insights and information that can support a more personalized treatment plan.

How We Use GeneSight® Results

GeneSight is never used on its own! Our providers consider your results alongside your symptoms, history, and goals. The focus is always on what feels right for you, at your pace!

Is GeneSight® Right for You?

GeneSight testing may be especially helpful if you’ve:

  • Tried more than one medication without the results you hoped for

  • Had side effects that made you want to stop treatment

  • Felt nervous about “starting over” with medications

If you’re curious or have questions, we’re happy to talk through it with you during your visit.
